Trump doesn't deserve to go to jail: Stormy

American nude actress Stormy Daniels says Donald Trump should not be jailed for paying her to keep quiet. Donald Trump appeared before a court in Manhattan, New York this week in a criminal case.

In her first interview since the hearing, the adult film actress told Piers Morgan: "I don't think they should be jailed for their crimes against me." The former US president pleaded not guilty in a Manhattan court to 34 counts of falsifying business records. The charges carry a maximum prison sentence of four years.

Donald Trump's lawyer paid Daniels $130,000 before the 2016 election to keep her quiet as she tried to go public about the alleged affair. Prosecutors say the way President Trump paid the lawyer amounted to tax fraud because the accounts marked the payments as legal expenses.

Daniels told Piers Morgan on a TV talk show that he doesn't think he deserves to go behind bars for what he did. However, he added that if they are found guilty of other crimes, they should be jailed to prevent others from thinking that they can get away with it.

President Trump is also under criminal investigation for allegedly mishandling classified material, trying to alter the election results in Georgia, and storming the US Capitol building. When asked if she would testify at the upcoming trial, Daniels said she would 'absolutely'.

"It's difficult but I'm looking forward to it, I have nothing to hide." I am the only one who is telling the truth. He said he had mixed feelings when he saw Donald Trump walk into the courtroom.

"He (Trump) had to submit to another judge," he remarked. The king has been removed from the throne. Now he can be touched. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg says that trying to hide the money given to Daniels is tantamount to voter fraud by suppressing negative news during an election.

President Trump has denied having sex with Daniels and has said the money was paid to protect his family from false accusations, not to influence the election. Legal experts have told the BBC they believe President Trump is unlikely to face jail time and a fine is more likely if convicted.

The former president is running for the White House again, and a criminal trial next year could derail his bid for the Republican nomination. Since his indictment, Republican colleagues have surrounded him and criticized Mr. Bragg, a Democrat, as a politically motivated prosecution.
