Abu Dhabi (Urdu Point News Latest. 05 April
2023) Iran has appointed its ambassador to the United Arab Emirates after 8
years. According to Iran's official news agency, Iran's Ministry of Foreign
Affairs has appointed Reza Amiri as the new ambassador of the Islamic Republic
of Iran to the United Arab Emirates. Amiri is the first ambassador to the Gulf
country after Reza Amiri served as the Director General of the Iranian
Department of Foreign Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the
United Arab Emirates has said in a statement that the return of the Emirati
ambassador to Tehran is taking place in accordance with the diplomatic
traditions of the communication campaign between the foreign offices of the two
countries. In light of the previous decision to increase diplomatic
representation to Iran, the new ambassador of the Emirates to Iran will work to
fulfill the common interests of both neighboring countries and the region. It
will help in the further development of bilateral relations.
It has been reported that the United Arab
Emirates recalled its ambassador from Tehran after the visit of former Iranian
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to the disputed island of Abu Musa in 2012. It
was made after a phone call between Abdullah bin Zayed and his Iranian
counterpart Hossein Amirabdullahyan.
It is known that former Iranian president
Ahmadinejad visited the disputed island during his regime as part of the Gulf
region. It claims its sovereignty along with 2 other small islands nearby, but
Iran claimed control of these islands in 1971.
